There aren’t too many experiences out there that rock me to my core, I mean truly make me realize just what’s what, to see the world in a whole other light. Spending 11 days at Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base from the end of Feb through the first week of March was one of those experiences.

“Emphasizing that he does much more than just transport bikes, Smith brought his truck and trailer to numerous Colorado cyclocross races this year and set up his enclosed, heated tents with trainers lined up inside for riders to use. In a hurry to get to your start, and your number’s not pinned on yet? Your shifter suddenly has stopped working? Need a last-minute change in tire pressure? Smith and, often, his assistant Chandler Snyder of Snyder Cycling Services (http://www.snydercyclingservices.com/), were there to assist any rider with any need they might have. Smith tripled his crew for cyclocross nationals and worlds this year, bringing along bike mechanics Snyder and Chris Fuller, who were always willing to do whatever was needed, from changing out gummed-up cables and fried brake pads, to being the actual pit crew for riders without one.”

It's that time of year again. Time for the post-cyclocross blues to set in for some, though others may be happy that the past month of mud, snow, ice and sub-freezing temps are gone. Regardless of which side of the fence you're on, don't just hang the bike(s) up…

It's been a few weeks since wrapping up a rain, wind, snow and ice-soaked week in Louisville at Cyclocross Masters Worlds. The conditions there were something else, and I needed to have all of my tools/gear taken care of, since they had to survive a night of tornadoes and thunderstorms. Luckily, I had a new "tool" in my arsenal to help me out: my Pro Mechanics Tool Roll from Soulrun.

Everyone hopes the New Year comes in with a bang. Well, sometimes you better be careful what you wish for, or it could be the most Awesome Bang ever! Its been a super time of year as we all know. The holidays come and go, and the whirlwind of activity can put us in a time warp to rival The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Hello. Thanks for coming by and I truly hope everyone is having a great end to 2012, and will have a great beginning in 2013! There have been a couple of hiccups around the website the past couple of weeks. SCS web guru, Josh Gipper, had to rebuild the site from scratch/save what he could after a fire happened at the original server. Im not a web guy, so dont ask what, who, when, where, how, Im just glad Josh saved the important stuff. Some b-log posts were lost, but we'll see if we can find them.

Now that disc brakes are a household name on cross bikes, the options with rims, and building wheels is sky high. This wheelset has S T O U T written all over it. The customer is a big ole strong man. Over 6' tall and likes to push his stuff hard.

Sometimes it can be the little things that add up to a poorly shifting bike. The bike currently in the stand is one of those bikes. Customer claimed he's put not RD hanger on, after crashing last year, not shifting well...put new cables, housing, and even tried new RD and cassette and chain. None of these "fixed it". Its not something thats horribly bad, its one of those shifting deals where all but 2/3 cogs feel/shift smoothly.

Here's the latest beauty we've had the pleasure of dialing in for a client. A custom made(for the EPS system) Parlee I-5. This thing is absolutely yummy. Simple and elegant.
